Batteries are the part of the standby power chain that ages first. We handle the full battery scope on behalf of UPS manufacturers and their channel: change-out, testing and monitoring, all the way to certified disposal. Every brand, every chemistry, lead-acid as well as lithium.
A battery change-out is the replacement of complete battery strings: the old fleet out, new blocks in, connected and verified per battery. In Germany we are replacing 11.600+ batteries across 50+ UPS systems this way, from 1.140 kW units to smaller systems, string by string, so the remaining capacity stays available. In the Netherlands we placed 912 AGM blocks on the existing racks.
Per battery we log voltage and conductance: the internal conduction that drops as a battery ages. Thermal imaging shows poor connections and blocks running warm. This way we measure the condition of 36.000+ batteries every year. The measurements are periodic and planned, within the windows of a live data center.
If the client wants fixed measuring equipment on the strings, we supply and install brand-independent sensors, per block, on existing and new systems. We configure the thresholds and the alerting: a notification goes to your own organization or to the manufacturer. We deliver periodic reporting, so replacement can be planned ahead.
The removed equipment goes to certified processing through our recycling partner. Lithium travels under ADR: the European regime for transporting dangerous goods, with the packaging and paperwork that come with it. The client receives a processing certificate that closes the file.
